History of optioncare®

Option Care has been a pioneer in home infusion therapy and alternate site services since 1979. The founders started the company based on the needs of a single patient. Soon they discovered there were other patients in the community with similar needs and so they expanded their services to include the parenteral therapies necessary to service all patients.

The founders knew their community was not unique and that there must be patients who needed these services in communities, both large and small, across the nation. The success story of Option Care began to spread . . . and other care providers began showing an interest. Option Care, Inc. grew, adding new staff to handle the increasing demands of pharmacy and nursing support, reimbursement issues, and sales and marketing efforts. By 1984, the owners of Option Care, Inc. decided to formalize the process in order to offer the training and support needed to best service these patients, so they became a franchisor. In 1984, the first Option Care franchise office opened in Fresno, California, followed by twelve other offices later that year.

Since then the franchise network has grown to over 130 locations across the United States. Providing high quality, cost effective care has driven our growth. We believe local owners and professionals are best suited to serving their own communities. Option Care offices utilize current medical technology and maintain the highest standards of clinical practice, backed by the national standards, policies and procedures.

Now, over 20 years later, what began as a great idea in a small office in Chico, California has grown to one of the largest networks of home infusion therapy providers in the country. Our corporate headquarters are now based near Chicago, Illinois and we continue to offer innovative and progressive homecare services to our community.
